Selection Process
The initial selection process involves identifying more than 100 regional coaching staffs of the year, with the process eventually settling on 19 staffs for selection as United Soccer Coaches National
Staffs of the Year. Through the years many of the nation’ s best molders of bodies and minds have been selected as a United Soccer Coaches Coach / Staff of the Year. Through the program’ s history, some Coach of the Year categories have expanded and some have become further defined to accomodate the growth of the sport in the country. A listing of past recipients follows.
Divisional Breakdowns
College Men United Soccer Coaches Staff of the Year awards are chosen from NCAA regions and are further divided into awards for the levels of NCAA play( Divisions I, II, and III), NAIA and Junior Colleges. This process is carried out through a series of ballots, first at the regional and then the national level. Division I teams gaining a berth in the College Cup are added to the final national ballot.
College Women Coaches of women’ s teams choose four senior recipients, three NCAA divisional, NAIA and Junior College winners for Staff of the Year. The process again involves regional and national balloting.
